Reviews about Benson's Pet Center (Saratoga Springs)

The Personnel at this Benson`s pet store are consistently top notch! They are the main reason I continue to shop there- Knowledgeable, Friendly, Helpful, Professional- they work as a team so they are efficient as well. I suspect that is why they are busy! Sunday is Not the day to go, I found out, if you are in a hurry or have questions. I've been going there at least 8 years- for our older dogs needs and since 2016 for new puppy.

2 weeks ago today I went to get fish with a friend here. When we first arrived and got to the fish section a girl said she was available if we needed help and walked away. There were 2 associates talkinging nearby well we looked and after a minute or 2 my friend knew the fish he wanted for his tank. It was a big tiger striped one. We walked to the nearby associates and waited a minute and after not responding I interrupted to ask for assistance. The girl I assume was the supervisor called another associate over to help us. The girl came over and we pointed out the fish and asked for it's price. There was no price tag so she said she'd find out for us. Before she was done talking the girl who believe was the supervisor came over and started scolding her for not asking us about our tanks or fish we currently have and dismissed her before she could speak. My friend and I were put off a bit and this girl now offered to help. Again, my friend pointed out the fish and the girl looked at it and said, "It IS for sale, but I doubt you could afford it." I was mad at this point, but my friend just told her he knew he could afford it and to give him the price. The girl offered another completely different fish from another wall. My friend said again he wanted the tiger striped fish and he didn't care the price and this girl pointed out a crayfish on another wall saying how it got so much bigger since she last saw it and sat there looking at it well we waited for her to help get the fish we wanted. After an awkward silence I made a bet that the fish was 55$ and that's when the girl let out a sigh and became short with us. She grabbed a bucket, got the fish and walked us to the front. The fish ended up being 50$ with a 5$ deposit on the bucket. I was going to also get a few fish for my new tank but the girl walked away and I did NOT want to deal with that again. This was my first time shopping here and I was mad half way through our visit. I hear good things about this place, but during my visit, it was insulting and the assumed supervisor didn't seem to care for our business.
